Beacon of the region: VfL Osnabrück generates effects totalling 59.8 million euros for the city and region

"Talk of the town" and "beacon of the region" - the report by SLC Management shows that VfL Osnabrück generates regional economic effects totalling 59.8 million euros for the city and region. This value would increase even further if the club were to establish itself in the Bundesliga 2 and the stadium were to be renovated.

VfL Osnabrück is therefore not only a player on the pitch, but also an attractive employer, tenant, client for regional companies, retailers, advertising and sponsorship platform and, last but not least, a responsible corporate citizen. The city particularly benefits from the club in the areas of awareness & image, catering and turnover.The study to determine the regional economic effects of VfL Osnabrück was also commissioned by the club in connection with the joint project group with the city administration, which is dealing with the infrastructural future of the stadium "Bremer Brücke".

The regional economic study was based on the 2023/2024 second division season and included a regional and nationwide survey of VfL Osnabrück fans as well as supporters of other clubs (visiting fans). In addition to the monetarily measurable effects, the study also looked at the non-measurable effects, such as the area of corporate social responsibility.

Dr Michael Welling, Commercial Director of VfL Osnabrück: "The calculated value of 59.8 million euros emphasises the economic and social importance of VfL for the city and region of Osnabrück. This value proves that, in addition to its emotional power and social function as a link and integration centre for sports enthusiasts from all parts of our city, VfL is also an important economic factor for the city and economic region of Osnabrück. Looking to the future, we are convinced that the potential of VfL - both emotionally and economically - is far from exhausted and that the economic effects for the city, the district and the region will increase with further sporting and infrastructural development."
