#SforSports - SLC projects at a glance

The "S" in "SLC Management" stands for Sport // It's a wrap!
Did you know? SLC has already carried out projects in around a quarter of this year's Olympic disciplines!
We used the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris to give you an overview of our non-football projects on LinkedIn - for some projects we even dug deep into the archive. You can find a summary of this LinkedIn series in this blog post. [To the LinkedIn post as PDF, click on the respective sport/heading]
>>> BASKETBALL
Whether consulting for Bundesliga clubs, designing basketball arenas or market research for the streaming service provider Dyn Media GmbH - for decades, our expertise has also been incorporated into market research and consulting projects in basketball.
- Media information system for Dyn: measuring the development of the Dyn brand
- Market research in the unique SLC sports panels, including the Basketball Barometer
- Wolfgang Heyder, basketball official: "For years, I have been happy to draw on the expertise of Prof Madeja and his team. SLC's fact-based consulting approach has often provided me with valuable input and an essential basis for decision-making."
>>> GYMNASTICS
The connection between SLC and gymnastics goes back a long way: Professor Madeja, Managing Director of SLC Management, was on site in Ghent for the spectator survey at the 2001 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships. And the SLC team was also in Cottbus again in 2023 to carry out sponsorship controlling and an event evaluation at the Gymnastics World Cup.
Eberhard Gienger, gymnastics legend & 1976 Olympic bronze medallist: "I have known and valued Professor Dr Alfons Madeja and his team for a very long time. You can always rely on their data and they always offer great added business value!"
>>> TENNIS
Back in 2005, Prof. Dr Alfons Madeja, Managing Director of SLC Management, conducted regional and spectator surveys at one of the world's most important indoor tennis tournaments at the time - the HeilbronnOpen:
- Awareness & image
- Visitor behaviour
- Public relations
- Satisfaction with the event
>>> BOXING
Back in the days of boxing world champion Sven Ottke, SLC Managing Director Prof. Dr Alfons Madeja conducted audience surveys and event evaluations of the IBF World Boxing Championships for the legendary Sauerland boxing stable, including in the Arena Nuremberg.
>>> HANDBALL
Whether consulting for Bundesliga clubs such as TVB Stuttgart, market research via our Handball Barometer or service quality analyses of the REWE Final Four - for many years, our expertise has also been incorporated into market research and consulting projects in handball.
- Permanent market research & consulting through club panel at TVB Stuttgart, Jürgen Schweikardt, Managing Director: "The club-specific panel developed by SLC provides a first-class basis for obtaining a representative, valid & meaningful picture of the mood from the perspective of our customers/fans.
- Service quality analysis & certification at the REWE Final Four of the Handball Bundesliga in the Barclaycard Arena incl. market research & mystery check
>>> FENCING
SLC Managing Director Prof. Dr Alfons Madeja was already working on analyses and marketing concepts for the Olympic training centre Fencing-Club Tauberbischofsheim, where Olympic champion and IOC President Thomas Bach trained, back in 2004.
- Increasing the attractiveness and acceptance of the sport of fencing
- Gaining new spectator potential in other regions through live sports experiences
- Sponsoring concept
>>> VOLLEYBALL
What is SLC's connection to Italian volleyball? SLC Management already supported the Italian Serie A club Modena Volley - one of the beacons of European volleyball - with the Club Information System, i.e. with permanent, club-specific data collection and fact-based consulting.
Elisa Bergonzini, Director of Operations @Modena Volley: "For our strategic and operational work, it is particularly important to know the opinions of our fans and customers. To this end, SLC provides us with ongoing support in the form of valid, meaningful and reliable market and opinion research data."
>>> GOLF
Apart from the fact that SLC Managing Director Prof. Dr Alfons Madeja himself is a fan of golf. Dr Alfons Madeja is an enthusiastic golfer himself, he already assisted the German Golf Association in 2007 as an external consultant on the subject of "golf development" and set new standards with his umbrella concept. The new umbrella concept - consisting of 3 pillars - was the basis for the further work of the DGV:
- Pillar 1: Golf
- Pillar 2: Economic efficiency of DGV members
- Pillar 3: Subsidiarity principle
- Golf Journal: "The DGV sought professional advice from Dr Alfons Madeja. As an external consultant, he presented a new umbrella concept. The guidelines were adopted as a basis."
Last year, the SLC team was in Duisburg to analyse the regional economic effects of the Canoe World Championships. The result: the Canoe World Championships generated €6.3 million in effects for Duisburg & the region.
City of Duisburg: "The study is a great incentive for us to bring further major events to Duisburg, as such an event also significantly improves the quality of life in Duisburg and the image of the city to the outside world.
