SLC Managing Director Professor Madeja exclusively guest at Sport1 News

Right in the middle instead of just being there - last week, SLC Management in the person of Managing Director Prof. Dr. Alfons Madeja was a guest on the Sport1 channel and exclusive live guest on its Sport1 News program. Thematic focus of the show: the use of pyrotechnics in the Bundesliga and 2nd Bundesliga and the opinion of the fans. As a long-standing expert and opinion researcher in the Bundesliga environment, Professor Madeja presented the fans' views on the much-discussed topic of pyrotechnics, based on representative opinion data collected by the station.

On the last matchday, the topic came to the fore again. Several match interruptions occurred on Saturday during the match between Union Berlin and Bayer Leverkusen due to repeated burning of Bengali fires by the guest fans. The previous week in the 2nd Bundesliga at the match between Hamburger SV and Karlsruher SC a novelty in the history of the Bundesliga in terms of pyrotechnics occurred when the Hamburg fans, with the permission of the respective authorities and in cooperation with the club, burned down so-called "cold pyrotechnics".

As a leading consulting institute in the data and opinion analysis of the Bundesliga, SLC Management conducted a representative survey among fans of the Bundesliga and 2nd Bundesliga against this background. As Professor Madeja explained at Sport1, it is important in general, and especially when it comes to pyrotechnics, that their effect on all fans is always taken into account. This means not only looking at the fans from the north and south corners or single season ticket holders, but also including the remaining spectators in the stadium.

The majority of fans (75.8 percent) do not see pyrotechnics as part of the German fan culture. On the contrary, 66.8 percent of those surveyed find burning pyrotechnics disturbing. A total of more than 5,000 soccer fans from the Bundesliga and 2nd Bundesliga were surveyed in the study.

For the collection of representative data within the scope of the opinion research - as in the present study - as well as for the fact-based consulting within the scope of the cooperation with clubs, associations, investors and sponsors in German soccer, SLC Management uses the self-developed, only representative sports panel in Europe with registered participants of the German professional leagues and clubs.
