What the basis expects from the #DFB! - Survey results for the DFB national conference from the amateur soccer barometer
On the occasion of the upcoming "DFB-Bundestag" (DFB national conference) and the new elections of the future DFB leadership on March 11, SLC investigated developments and potentials in amateur soccer as well as expectations and main tasks for the future DFB leadership for the German Football Association. In addition to the expectations for the associations, the survey focused on the challenges and opportunities for the clubs in the future as well as their current situation after two years of pandemic. Around 8,000 people from amateur soccer took part in the three-part survey and formulated their demands on the world's largest sports association with more than 7 million members. Approximately 60% of the respondents were coaches/functionaries who were able to judge the topics from their own experience. Almost 35% of all participants are also active players. A comparison of these values with the structures of the DFB and its state associations proves the high validity of the data.
The biggest wishes of people in amateur soccer are (enlarge graphic by clicking on image):
- Trustworthiness and transparency.
- Strengthening of amateur soccer and its junior divisions.
- Digitization and further development of administrative processes and qualification measures.
- Supporting the grassroots in the future-proof club development.
- Commitment to the upgrading of volunteering and its framework conditions.
As the biggest sporting challenges, the respondents see the recruitment and retention of coaches (83%), players (70%) and referees (70%). But in addition to the sporting challenges, amateur soccer clubs also have to deal with financial challenges. Currently, 46 percent of the participants see a noticeable financial burden for their club due to the pandemic, nine percent even identify a burden that threatens their existence. From the point of view of 87 percent of those surveyed, the greatest shortfall is in income from club events and matchday operations.
>> Querying means hedging.
Given the importance and number of decisions to be made at the DFB's national conference, it is particularly important for the DFB to obtain a picture of the mood of the most important target group in advance and thus be able to respond to the demands in a targeted manner.
The DFB consequently does not have to guess what the needs and expectations of those involved in amateur soccer are, but rather obtains valid and, above all, representative bases for making strategic and operational decisions through the query in the amateur soccer barometer.
