Sportplatzwelt Online Congress // Round-Up SLC Forum "Modern Club Management - Strengthened for the Future"

On April 22, the second edition of the Sportplatzwelt Online Congress by Stadionwelt took place. With the Sportplatzwelt Online Congress, the established trade medium Stadionwelt offers the industry a new platform for knowledge transfer and exchange in the field of municipal sports facilities and club management.

This year, SLC Management once again had the pleasure of welcoming top-class speakers to its own forum. In addition to Andreas Neugebauer, Chairman of Post SV Nuremberg, Hans-Jörg Oehmke, Head of SportService Stadt Nuremberg and Christine Eggert (Marketing & Sales Management VR Bank Nuremberg), were guests in the forum "Modern Club Management - Strengthened into the Future".

In his opening keynote address "[K]now or Never - The Power of Knowledge in the Club Eco-System", Prof. Dr. Alfons Madeja addressed the current problems of clubs and municipalities, which are well known to him through his many years of teaching and research work as a professor of club management, managing director of a large and popular sports club and former Bundesliga manager. In his opening speech, he emphasized in particular the need for purpose-oriented knowledge for clubs and municipalities in their eco-system and the urgency of using such knowledge. In doing so, one must gather information in the areas and from the people concerned in which one wants to solve one's problems. Clubs must act now and not wait for better times , Prof. Madeja appealed in conclusion.

The talk following the keynote "First Mover City of Nuremberg - Data-based club development at the municipal level" took up the problems addressed and fields of action on the municipal side. In the exchange with Maximilian Madeja (Managing Director SLC Management) and Hans-Jörg Oehmke (Head of SportService City of Nuremberg) the current and future challenges, from the perspective of the municipality were highlighted. Furthermore, the backgrounds were revealed for which reasons the city of Nuremberg has decided to use an information system especially in the current difficult phase.

Hans-Jörg Oehmke (Head of SportService City of Nuremberg): "As a city or municipality, not only the big clubs have to be involved in ideas and developments, but every single club has to be involved in such processes from the very beginning in order to be able to use the diminishing funds in an even more targeted way. With the help of such a system, decision-making bases are created for future investments, for example, and communication between clubs and the municipality is kept permanently high."

In the case dialogue "Professional Sponsoring Management through the Club Information System CIS" , Maximilian Madeja (Managing Director SLC Management), Andreas Neugebauer (Board of Post SV Nuremberg) and Christine Eggert (Marketing & Sales Management VR Bank Nuremberg) then discussed the possibilities of professional sponsoring management through the Club Information System CIS and the associated opportunities for use, for example in cooperation with partners and sponsors. Sponsoring in particular is currently not really exploited as an additional source of income in the amateur and popular sports sector or is hardly used in practice. That it goes also differently shows the post SV Nuremberg.

Andreas Neugebauer (Board Post SV Nuremberg): "The crucial point of our professionalization was the support by the professionals of SLC Management, who showed us a clear way how it has to work. Not only were we shown in detail the value of our club as a whole, but also the value of the individual advertising platforms( (assets). In this process, the actual value and benefit for the sponsor could then be precisely quantified and the expectations of the sponsor to the club worked out. Fact-based instead of gut feeling."

In particular in the points of marketing and sponsoring, which are central problems for most clubs, the service provider idea must be developed even more. Because by a careful and high-quality care of the sponsors new partnerships can be won and existing partnerships intensified and extended. After all, securing and increasing revenues represents not only the preservation of existence but also the preservation of jobs for the clubs. The Club Information System CIS has a significant influence on the professionalization of a club and can be applied in many ways. The system is already successfully used by several clubs in the following areas; sponsorship, marketing, investments and many other areas.

Christine Eggert (Marketing & Sales Management VR Bank Nuremberg): "The professional processing and the clear presentation of the advantages and benefits of a partnership has surprised and amazed us very much. Especially also the support and controlling just in the current time has finally convinced us to extend the partnership despite the crisis."
